When you send a gift, you rarely send just a package.
You are sending a birthday greeting, a thank you, encouragement, or a small surprise to someone you care about. Therefore, expectations are often higher than with a regular online purchase.
At Kosibox, we know that delivery is an important part of the gift experience. At the same time, Norway is a long country with few carriers and large geographical differences. This means that no delivery method is perfect – but each has its strengths.
Home delivery by courier – fast and personal
In areas where Porterbuddy is available, this is often the fastest way to send a gift.
In Oslo, the gift can often be delivered the same day if the order is placed early enough. In several other major cities, Porterbuddy offers next-evening delivery.
This makes the solution perfect when you've forgotten a birthday, want to congratulate someone quickly, or simply want to create an extra pleasant surprise.
Why does the recipient receive an SMS?
This is a question we often receive.
Some of our customers want the gift to be a completely secret surprise. That's a nice thought, and we like surprises just as much as anyone else.
However, our experience is that surprises can also lead to more failed delivery attempts.
Many people don't answer unknown phone numbers. If the courier can't make contact, or the recipient isn't home, the risk of a failed delivery increases.
Therefore, we normally send an SMS to the recipient. It reveals that something is on its way, but at the same time increases the likelihood that the gift will actually arrive when it's supposed to.
If the courier cannot deliver
A major advantage of Porterbuddy is that they normally attempt delivery again the next evening if the first attempt is unsuccessful.
This provides extra security, but the best help the recipient can provide is still to keep an eye on their phone when delivery is expected.
Posten – a slightly slower pace, but very reliable
Not everyone needs same-day delivery.
Posten covers all of Norway and is often the best solution when the recipient lives outside the major cities.
There is no fixed delivery time. The package arrives when it arrives, just like other mail.
In return, we experience very few failed deliveries.
First, Posten tries to deliver the package to the mailbox. If it is too large, it can often be hung on the door in a protective plastic bag. If that is also not possible, the package is sent to the nearest pick-up point.
Why gift delivery is different from regular online shopping
When you order something for yourself, it often doesn't matter much whether the package arrives on Tuesday or Wednesday.
A gift is different.
It is linked to a specific occasion and a specific feeling. Therefore, delivery becomes an important part of the experience.
We know that both the sender and recipient are looking forward to it, and we do everything we can to make the experience as good as possible.
We do our best
Norway does not have a large number of delivery companies to choose from, and no solution is perfect in all situations.
Therefore, we use different delivery methods depending on the address, package size, and what offers the highest probability of a successful delivery.
The goal is always the same:
That a beautiful gift box arrives safely, is opened with a smile, and makes the day a little better.
